Since 1979, Carl Levin has represented the people of Michigan in the United States Senate, where he has fought to strengthen our economy and bolster our manufacturing sector, clean up and protect the Great Lakes and our environment, and make quality health care accessible to all Americans.

Most recently, he has been deeply involved in efforts to preserve our country’s domestic auto industry.

As Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Chairman of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, and as an ex-officio the Senate Intelligence Committee, Carl is also a leader on issues related to the war in Iraq, national security, and homeland security.

Carl also works hard as a member of the Senate Small Business Committee as an advocate for Michigan’s small businesses, which account for more than half of Michigan’s jobs.
